Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, demons, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of heroes who will separate from the primary party to begin their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death started the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could help the group access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Seekers and Strategists groups.
Fans can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
