Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then located numerous other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state initial examinations indicate the fluid was likely human blood.
"There is still no lead as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities said they were working "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the public for information.
An important official commented the vandalism made him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
